"Bohemian in style with a relaxed atmosphere, an authentic taste of Morocco..."

Riad Edward is situated in the Zaouia quarter of the Medina, north of Marrakech's main square and is accessible by car.
Formerly the home of the Alaoui family, relatives of Morocco’s ruling family, which accounts for its grandeur, it was restored by its English owner as a private house and it retains many of its original features with stunning tile-work, carved cedar ceilings and doors, and various local artefacts and rugs scattered around the rooms. The style of the house differs from some of the more modern renovations, with Riad Edward retaining a shabby chic style reminiscent of a bygone age.
It is a large traditional house with a central courtyard. A swimming pool (7m x 3m, unheated) runs between the courtyards' central arches. Traditional Moroccan doors open onto the courtyard from a large sitting room and dining room and the Green bedroom and bathroom.
This boutique hotel has just 6 Suites and 3 Rooms all with ensuite bathroom which overlook the courtyard and multilevel terraces. The very spacious Douriya Suite has a living room with optional interconnecting bedroom. All bedrooms have heating and air conditioning and some have a fireplace.
The top floor terraces have magnificent views of the town, the Mosques and in winter the distant snow-capped Atlas Mountains.

"Riyad Edward is a lovely hotel - intimate with differently styled bedrooms. It's definitely ideal for those who hate bland hotels and seek a romantic weekend break. We stayed over New Year's Eve. The hotel offers absolutely lovely breakfasts, you can request to eat by the pool or on the roof terrace with no fuss at all. The evening meals were also excellent value for money. We stayed in the Dillon suite and felt that we had our own little apartment away from the rest of the hotel and had so much privacy.
They made the fire in our room for us every evening which was great as its a bit chilly at night in December. The hotel will arrange drinks or a bottle of wine at a much better price that local restaurants and we celebrated new year on the roof with a glass watching a distant firework display."

"We had a fantastic few days at Riyad Edward, which could not have been a better place to stay. This is a beautiful house which has been sensitively restored in such a way that it retains real character and charm. There is a well kept garden (bougainvillea everywhere) and pool (which was pretty fresh in April but would no doubt be very welcome during the real heat of the summer months), a very comfortable roof terrace and several hidden away spots on other floors round the courtyard where you can relax in almost total privacy.
The staff were all charming and could not have been more helpful. Part of the charm of Riyad Edward is its laid back atmosphere; the stark, fluffy-white-towelness of formal hotels is replaced here with a much cooler, more intimate atmosphere. The owner, Stephen, was entirely unobtrusive but always there to offer help and advice when you asked for it. We thought he ran a very good house here."
