Riad Chayma

We are an elegant new Riad located in the traditional Bab Doukkala neighbourhood of the Medina within a minutes walk of the 12th Century Medina Gate. We are perfectly positioned in between the heart of the 'old city' Medina - Djemaa El Fna, and the heart of the 'new city of' Gueliz - Marrakesh Plaza. Each of these destinations can be easily reached within a 10 minute walk.

All of our rooms have been beautifully decorated and feature a luxurious marble bathroom with traditional tadelakt walls and a modern candy stripe effect. The oversized suites boast a deep marble bath and warm cozy fire place. Additional amenities include air-conditioning/heating, an oversized wardrobe, personal safe, hair dryer, an ipod docking station, complimentary bottled water, sumptuous memory foam bed, high quality linen, fluffy towels and delicious bath & body products.

Like all traditional Moroccan Riads, the rooms of the house are arranged around the central open-air courtyard. The courtyard is adorned with beautiful filigree lighting, vibrant Bougainvillea and a peaceful water fountain. The Salon is a fusion of traditional Moroccan craftsmanship combined with a chic contemporary influence. The remarkable fireplace with its intricate plaster carving, stunning artisan lights, ancient fossils and artefacts complement the floor to ceiling glass windows, polished marble floor and designer furniture to create an opulent living space. The room is also air-conditioned and has a flat screen TV with Satellite channels, IPOD docking station, CD player, selection of interesting books and familiar board games.

The plunge pool is an extension of the opulent salon with its floor to ceiling arched glass walls and over sized mirrors. The ceiling is an array of spectacular hand crafted spheres creating a star like atmosphere to cool off under.

The Roof Terrace is a hidden oasis with swaying coco palms, fragrant creepers and exotic flowers high above the streets of the busy Medina. Its the perfect place to soak up the glorious Moroccan sun on one of the sun lounges or the comfy day bed; whilst sipping a refreshing drink. The large tent features 2 antique Berber tent poles and has a shaded seating area making it an ideal place to relax with a book or pot of mint tea.

Eating at Riad Chayma

Daily breakfast is included in your room rate, however we can also prepare a delicious selection of contemporary Moroccan inspired lunches, delectable afternoon teas and traditional dinners. Our menu offers vegetarian selections and dishes can be adjusted to suit most dietary requirements. The Riad is perfectly positioned in the Bab Doukkala food Souk, giving us access to the freshest daily produce. Previous guests have often commented that the best meal in Marrakesh, was the 3 couse dinner enjoyed on the roof terrace or in the courtyard at Riad Chayma. We recommend pre-booking dinner at the Riad for your first night in Marrakech.

Gnaoua Evenings – Upon request we can book a traditional Gnaoui master musician to play at the Riad during dinner service. For group bookings we recommend a trio of Gnaoua to create the perfect party atmosphere.

Full Day Atlas Mountains Tour – Tahanaout, Asni & Imlil
This tour takes you high into the Atlas Mountains to Imlil at the foot of Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. Enroute you can visit various Berber Villages and meet the local mountain people. We visit an Argan Oil Workshop in Tahanaout, the Berber Market in Asni (Saturdays only), with the option of lunch at Richard Branson’s exclusive Mountain Retreat - Kasbah Tamadot. Finally you will enjoy tea in a traditional Berber House before the decent back down to Marrakech.
Note: Imlil is a great destination for Trekking if you are interested.

Full Day Ourika Valley Tour
The Ourika Valley is a short drive from Marrakech in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. It has stunning scenery, 16th & 17th Century Berber Villages and picturesque green valleys. Todays tour takes in a visit to a local Saffron Garden, a traditional Berber House where you can witness the ‘tea ceremony’ and enjoy the traditional beverage. Take a camel ride, visit the village of Setti Fatma were we take a short hike to one of the 7 stunning waterfalls and finally visit a local Argan Oil Co-operative.

Full Day Essaouira Tour
Once called Mogador by European sailors and traders, this former Portuguese fishing village is a must see on any trip to Morocco. White-washed walls and vibrant blue shutters, wood workshops, art galleries and perhaps the best seafood in all of Morocco are enough to captivate any visitor to this medieval seaside town Your driver will transfer you from Marrakech to Essaouira, where you have the option to explore the city by yourself or take in the expert knowledge of a licensed local guide. We recommend visiting the beautiful fishing port, the Medina, Moulay El-Hassan Square, the Grand Mosque and Siaghine Alley.
Recommended year round with average temperatures in the 20’s, especially in summer when it makes a nice relief from the scorching heat Marrakech heat.
